Pressing On Through France

After our first night back in France, spent in a hypermarket car park on the outskirts of Caen, we decided to have another visit to Le Mont St-Michel, just to see if the weather held up this time. It did, and we spent a night there in the car park out by the causeway, with a few dozen other campervans.

There are still huge numbers of tourists visiting, and this pic has the truck which scrubs the coach park after high tide. It removes the silt which is left by the tide and looks just like the stuff Christchurch residents have been seeing too much of lately.

We were lucky to have a reasonably high water level at sunset, so the lighting-up-time pics look pretty good.

We had a long drive down to the Île de Ré, off La Rochelle, and we’re here for a couple of days to do some washing and charge batteries (literally, the van system won’t support the laptop for more than a day off mains unless we do a lot of driving).

Next stop Bordeaux and then up the Dordogne.
