There’s nothing like getting to a location and finding scaffolding, or roadworks. The only thing missing from this scene is the White Van…

Ah, here it is! And, a hi-vis vest too!

Then there’s the unexpected event, blocking your view…

And of course the wheelie bin. How many wheelie bins are there in the world now? I saw my first one when we moved into our house in Rangiora. We had to pay $16 a month for it, and I though it was a great idea. I suppose it still is:-)

I have bought new walking boots, but for some reason I didn’t wear them on this day. Now I have both walking boots and trainers caked in British mud. However, apparently this has been the sunniest winter on record, as I’m sure you must have noticed from the photos, so no complaints. Clear blue skies and brilliant light (up to NZ standards) are not part of my memories of the UK.

As I’m sure you all know, fur coats are “in” this year, and this lady saw no reason not to be fashionable on a bracing walk on Hunstanton beach. They sounded Polish, so maybe she is an emigre countess. Yes, I think it is real fur. Fashion or not, I’d say 95% of the population here are wearing down coats, including me.
My new ski gloves, perfect for holding onto cold, wet metal handrails down to beaches. A great colour combination I know, but they were half price in the sale. They have elastic so I can slip them off and they dangle from my wrists, just like children’s, very handy.

And finally, what do Walls mean? Any ideas?
As Colin says, they are the only ice cream manufacturer mentioned in the bible – Walls of Jericho. Ha Ha Ha!

That picture needs orange traffic cones to be really complete.
