Zaragoza

Plaza del Pilar, Zaragoza, Aragon, Spain.

Zaragoza is a city of over 700,000 people, and has an unbelievable number of boring blocks of flats. However, it also has this amazing square, the Plaza del Pilar. It also has a lot of churches, including two cathedrals!

The two cathedrals, and a sculpture for which I cannot find any reference. It’s covered in graffiti, unfortunately. It’s surprising, as an enormous amount of effort goes into keeping the plaza clean!

Statue of Caesar Augustus, Zaragoza, Aragon, Spain.

The city was founded betwwen 25BC and 12BC, and originally named Caesaraugusto, after the Roman emperor. The name Zaragoza is a corruption of that original name.
