We had only two nights in Ayr, a seaside town on the West coast of Scotland. We would have liked to stay longer, but the site was full!

This is the prettiest view in the town, the New Bridge, built in 1878. There is an Auld Brig, and also a modern bridge, but the less said about that, the better.

The other side of the New Bridge. It was sunny on this day!

This used to be an old bridge, but not the Auld Brig.

A salmon ladder on the River Ayr, but no salmon. This is the time of year for them to start going upstream, so hope we will see some!

The High Street. In fact the weather has not been great, had to do a lot of work on these pics, but this is Scotland after all, if we ever want to see it we will have to accept sitting in the caravan looking at the rain, quite often! TBH the town is scruffy, lots of litter and fag ends, quite similar to Wombwell. It’s a shame they don’t have more pride in the place. The beach is absolutely not photogenic. There are 40 golf courses around, it is known as “The Golf Coast”. Apparently the Scots invented golf, and unlike caber tossing, it has become popular the world over.
Next stop, the Isle of Arran.
