Glencoe

There is something special about Glencoe, I don’t know if it’s the awful weather or the even worse biting insects, but in spite of all that we love it.

However, we had one fantastic day’s sunshine. We got up for sunrise…

The world doesn’t really need any more photos of the Buachaille, but we’ve looked around and we haven’t seen anything like these, so we were very lucky. There’s probably no point in ever going there again, we’ve had our whole lifetime’s luck now!

There were three photos we were planning to take, two waterfalls – not enough water, so didn’t do that…

and the dead tree that used to stand here (you can see it on our post from four years ago) but it was destroyed in a storm very soon after we were there, so we were lucky then too. I got bitten to death here. We found our citronella bracelets (bought in NZ) didn’t work on the midges here.

Later in the day, it was too sunny, and next day was the usual gloom, so no more pics.

We have moved on to Fort William, a rather dull town, but nice surroundings.

  1. I’m told (by a Scotswoman) that the only thing that works is Avon Skin so Soft spay on oil. Shona (our Scotswoman) tells me that some of the local shops might have it.
Shona hails from Haverford West, Pemrokeshire but brought up in Reraig (3 miles from Kyle)
