The weather was so bad we didn’t bother going into Aberdeen, but we couldn’t resist seeing Dunnottar Castle, which must have the most dramatic location of any Scottish Castle.

Colin has always said that the west coast of Scotland is far more interesting than the East, and he is right. The top of the west coast is very spectacular, then you get to the actual north coast, which is just moorland. We crossed in very dull weather, and arrived at John o’ Groats, which, considering it is so famous, has very little going for it.

We had a night here to break the journey. Looks like we had great weather! but it was only for a short while. We didn’t take any more photos until we got to John o’ Groats, where we also had only a small amount of sunshine.
