The first day we went to Flamborough Head, it was so windy that as I walked, I could feel the foot that was lifted off the ground actually being blown around! So, not to be put off, we went a few more times. I wouldn’t say we had good weather, but it was impressive. Lovely place!

This rock is called The Dinosaur, and I can see why.

A breezy day at Whitby!

Saltwick Bay – the sea stack is called Black Nab. At low tide you can walk right out to it, but this day the sea was in the way.

As you can see we have had some beautiful light at Whitby.

The 199 steps – the weather was so good, and there are so many places to go, we decided to stay another 5 days, that’s 10 days altogether. Of course it didn’t last! The last couple of days have been grey and cold, but we are warm and cosy in our caravan.

Staithes. Very nice, but it faces north, so doesn’t get much sun. We had fun taking loads of interesting but grey shots.

More sunshine at Whitby.

The wind caused a lot of spray, making the cliff look fuzzy. Tried it again when the wind was in a different direction, but that just looks boring. This is from one of the outer piers, and the wooden slats are too far apart for my liking. I don’t like to be able to see down to the sea. You can watch people walking, one foot on one board, one on the next, it looks quite funny.

Beautiful weather at Scarborough, this is the Grand Hotel, where you can get bed and breakfast for only £30 (notice I have found out how to type a £ symbol on this $ keyboard).

Scarborough Beach – it is surprising how many people are about at this time of year. We have spent most of today booking camp sites as they fill up so quickly. We have booked through until after Easter – that takes us to Carnac, Brittany!

I was determined to get the lighthouse and the Grand Hotel in one shot.

This hotel seems to dominate the town. It looks as I remember it, but it isn’t where I thought it was. I felt sure it was up on the cliff. The last time I was in Scarborough was Easter Monday 1978, Vicky was in her pushchair, Caroline was in progress, the weather was miserable and there were a lot of bikers in leathers in town.

This cafe is for sale, if anyone fancies a move.

We have two more mornings here, we are hoping for a little bit of light first thing so we can get some nice shots of Runswick Bay and Robin Hood’s Bay, that’s if the sea is low enough to allow us to stand on the beach. Saturday, we are off to Lincoln!
