First impression of Tokyo – unlike Shanghai, it is very noisy (no electric vehicles to speak of) and quite old fashioned. This is the famous Shibuya Crossing, busiest intersection in the world. There are lots more actual crossings, just can’t get them all in the picture! You would need to get above to see it properly, try Google! Continue reading →
9 December 2018: Mount Maunganui, New Zealand – Mount Maunganui and Moturiki Island, with pohutukawa bushes in foreground.
Just a couple from my favourite beach, but my favourite companion seems to be missing. The pohutakawa was amazing this year! I don’t know why we haven’t got more photos. Continue reading →
We had to go to Manchester to collect our visas for China, and we had a beautiful sunny day, and obviously took lots of photos. Since I haven’t exactly been complimentary about the place, I thought I would post a few pics to show how lovely it is when the sun shines!
2 November 2018: Salford Quays, Manchester, UK – ITV and BBC buildings on a sunny autumn day, clear blue sky, colourfully dressed young people in foreground.
I know you want to see what Gothenburg looks like. As you know, the weather was dull and disappointing, and we weren’t very impressed, but having looked online I think it’s probably a much nicer and more interesting place than we thought. I think we could spend four or five days here in summer, and think very differently. There are some lovely shops, think Ikea but a long way upmarket! Nothing really interesting happened to write about, except for the scrum to get on the shuttle bus back to the ship. I don’t know what happened to the great British art of queuing, but it wasn’t around. There were also these guys getting in the fountain with the naked god, which shows you the actual weather. I have cheered up the rest of the photos as much as I could.
This was quite an adventure! We drove first to Hull, where we got the ferry to Rotterdam:-
5 April 2018: Hull, UK – Port of Hull passenger terminal building and gangways.
Overnight on the ferry, to a lovely sunny morning in Rotterdam, where we sailed in through the port and of course snapped a few photos of all the industry there:-
6 April 2018: Rotterdam, Netherlands – Chemical or Oil Tanker Besiktas Pera at Port of Rotterdam on a bright spring morning with clear blue sky.
Finally, I’ve processed enough photos to do a blog post. We’ve been busy decorating our back hall, nearly done now!
My first impression of Lisbon was that it’s a really grubby place, litter and chewing gum all over the place. It was nice in a way to think that the Brits aren’t the only scruffs in the world!. However, It’s a lovely place, full of interest, and we would love to go back, preferably in sunny weather! I had a look at one of our sites, and they had 165000 Lisbon pics, and all seemed to be sunny. So, maybe it will be good to have some that are not!
The next thing I noticed was the pavements. Fancy pavements are everywhere, it’s called Portuguese Pavement.
27 February 2018: Lisbon, Portugal – Traditional Portuguese Pavement, or calcada portuguese, the tiled pavement found in public areas of Portugal, here seen in Avenida Almirante Reis.
After all the messages, emails and texts from you all, desperate for a new blog post, here we go!
We have had such great weather during May, June and July it’s been difficult to keep up with all the processing, we’ve just been out and about all the time, but the recent rain, and my bad cold, caught I feel sure at the doctors this week, means we have been stuck in the caravan for a few days and are almost caught up.
First, Llandudno, where we found ourselves a little house, but still found time to drive down to Snowdonia. I can’t tell you how much we love being so close to such a beautiful area, we can actually go there for the day! So, we repeated a walk around Llyn Idwal. It has been changed from 25 years ago, there is no longer the big drop that I had to sit down on my bum and lower myself over, or the ledge across the face of a waterfall. It is now an easy stroll.

If you don’t get the pun in my title, YouTube is your friend. That first comment by LOA Whispers, that poem is inscribed on Wombwell War Memorial, just by the traffic lights, so I read it just about every time I go past. I feel as if I have been reading it all my life, in fact I pretty much have! I see there is an Andre Rieu version too! Of the tune, not the poem.
We have been pretty lazy about processing recently, we are definitely ready for a change. However I have forced myself to do some so that I could make this (final) post.
Corpus Clock, Trumpington Street, Cambridge, England, UK
I noticed our reflections in this when processing, but too hard to remove them. It moves, you can probably find a video if you are interested. Continue reading →
It’s a long way from the Lake District to Cambridgeshire, so we stopped off in York (third trip this year) then carried on to Mildenhall, a forest site, which is near Cambridge – the Cambridge site was full.
The Lake District was two days good, two days wet, that west coast mountains thing again.
