The Ming tombs are in an area surrounded by mountains on 3 sides. We visited the Changling tomb, where Yong Lee is buried, the largest and best preserved tomb. It’s mainly like any other Imperial Chinese ceremonial site, lots of gates, shrines, courtyards and gate lions.
The other interesting part is the Sacred Way, an avenue with sculpture which approaches the tombs.

This was a bit quieter than the Changling tomb, no big parties of tourists from all over China.
Even though the sun is shining it looks chilly! Maybe it’s the pollution in the sky?
Not much pollution that far out of the city, but it was certainly chilly. There was a cold wind and we were shivering out of the sun.
