After a fairly frantic week on the Northumberland coast we’re just outside Durham and having a day off – apart from laundry and photo processing, that is! We’ve had lots of 3am alarms to get to the beach an hour before sunrise, and on one of those days didn’t get to bed until 11pm so a rest was needed.
This pic is from Durham yesterday afternoon, when we had lots of hanging around waiting for enough sun for a decent photo.
We went to the Metro Centre in Gateshead on the way through – even bigger than Meadowhall but very much the same. We had to make an extra trip that way after the rooflight hatch blew off the van while driving in a high wind. We managed to find a replacement so we didn’t have the carrier bag and gaffer tape version for too long.

We spent a day on Holy Island between tides and had a look around Lindisfarne Castle. How’s this for a kitchen?

Onwards to the North Yorkshire coast next…
