The weather brightened up this evening, so we went out for a stroll around town. It’s a small fishing port, particularly famous for oysters. This is a boat heading out for the night as others come in.

There are also a huge number of small boats in the harbour. The tidal range is about 5 metres so the inner harbour has gates to keep the water in at low tide.

When a new parish church was built, the old one was cut down in size and left on the waterfront as a sailors’ chapel.

After some showers this morning, this is Fort de la Hougue. It was built around 1700, along with another on L’Ile Tatihou, to keep the Royal Navy out of the bay after they had disrupted yet another French invasion plan.
Where are you planning to visit whilst you are in France?
Depends on the weather. Northern France gets pretty much the same as Britain, so if it’s not sunny we will go south.
En francis s’il vous plait!!!
