Carnac and Around

Sunrise at Carnac Alignments, Brittany, France.

We’ve been to Carnac twice before, but this is the first time we have had sunny weather.

Alignments of standing stones at Carnac, Brittany, France, in a sea of gorse.

As you can see, very sunny! Lots of gorse around the stones.

The Kermario dolmen at Carnac, Brittany, France.

A dolmen. Maybe a touch over processed?

We love photographing these stones, but it’s very easy. The only difference is in whether you get good light or not.

The nearby town of Auray.

Port Bara on the Quiberon Peninsula. This area definitely needs a closer look sometime, we had a lovely day out here yesterday. Cliff walks, beautiful beaches, our sort of place.

Up early this morning for Carnac beach…we couldn’t go on the pier, it is forbidden, as we were informed by two security guards and a very scary dog.

It’s not a very exciting beach but seems to be very popular, though not at this time of day.

Carnac town centre. That little shop on the right sells some lovely Breton clothes, which I have so far resisted buying.

This chateau is someone’s private house. I like the turreted matching double garage.

First French sighting.

What about this lampshade? Can’t decide whether I like it or not. How does one dust a feather duster? Is it Art?

Today we are off to Nantes, and will be wending our way towards the Mediterranean coast over the next few days.

  1. I didn’t realise it was a lamp until you pointed it out. I thought it was an ugly hat that someone had sent to a second hand store.
